Girl with The Sweet Bird Earrings

so today i walk into Regan or Reyon or maybe it was Raymond lecture hall...who cares at least i made it to the right class. i walk in and the place is packed and the only open seats are right in the very center of the row. i don't understand why people can't be courteous and move in toward the middle leaving the isle seats open for us individuals who don't get there 30 minutes early. I would love to get to class and just plop into an isle seat rather than squeeze by 4,500 students and say excuse me until my tongue wants to fall off.
anyway after about fifteen minutes of my, obviously nervous first year astronomy teacher, going over the syllabus i start to look around and i come to the conclusion that i know absolutely no one in this 500 person class. im talking no body, not even a "hey that guy sat across from me in english my freshman year of high school."
i start to stare forward and i notice the girl directly in front of me has on the coolest earrings. (brass hoops with a brass sparrow like bird at the bottom) the earring girl slowly turns her head to the left to, i assume pop her neck to try and wake up from our teacher's boring lecture. as she turns i realize it's Simone from the gym! the single person i know in this giant lecture hall is sitting in front of me!! :) amazing.
after i tapped her on the shoulder to say hello we then proceeded to continue to block out our teacher and have a conversation of our own. rude i know...but i had a friend i couldn't pass up :)

blah ah ah ah

silly silly days lately!

tonight is youth night and Joe encouraged Brittany and i to start hanging out with one of the youth girls outside of Wednesday night service. i chose Paige because she is so adorable and fun to be around. the plan is just to call and check in on her and maybe take her out for coffee or just do something random. well I've decided Paige hates me :( i write her on myspace and text her just to say hi and no response! last week i called her to see if she needed a ride to service and instead of calling me back she called Hannah...
Brittany and i joked about stalking her and forcing her hang out with me. lol

oh speaking of last week...
when i saw Hannah at youth i loved her hair cut and i asked her if i could copy her. she told me," go to style America and ask Vicki to cut your hair in a shag." she should have said, "go to style America and wait 35 minutes to get your hair butchered by the crazy obnoxious lady named Vicki, who will try and force you to buy every hair product known to man."
needless to say my lovely, adoring, bridezilla of a sister, saw me and pointed out that Vicki had given me a beautiful mullet. she will probably force me to where my hair in an up do for her wedding so i am not the embarrassment of the family. < thanks sister :-)

TP EMERGENCY

you know when your head is all fogged up with nonsense and you wish the anxious thoughts would drain out of your ears?... that's how i feel today.
I'm sitting here "working" right now. it consists of eves dropping on my dad's dramatic conversation with who knows who, while eating buttery popcorn and discussing APS' emergency order of 10 cases of toilet paper. im sure those La Cueva high school students will be excited to see that the custodians kindly stocked up for their wiping pleasure.
i cried out for help today. i sent Danielle stressful thougths over text message. she has this way with words... words that she delights in and uses for meaningful things. she responded with an amazing response. it was one of those really long texts on her end put it was sent to me in 4 different messages. as always the messages came in the wrong order due to my amazing service with cricket wireless. her words reassured three quarters of my emotions and 100% of what i should always be feeling and thinking. she sent one last one to end it, "you're too pretty to be upset." she's the reassuring friend that throws in a compliments to seal the deal :)

Beth's Specialties

She was always the reason we all got together. We called her the peacemaker. When my dad and his brothers would be too proud to talk to each other because of some stupid disagreement over the make of a car or a bad game of horse shoes, Aunt Beth would fuss at them until they worked it out.
“You men are stuck with each other forever, so you might as well work it out now!”

Birthday parties were another one of Aunt Beth’s specialties. She was always inviting the entire family over and she was always persistent, never giving them a chance to say no. When Aunt Beth invited you, you went. At every party her house was full of overweight, obnoxious musicians. When we were done eating Aunt Beth’s famous homemade fried chicken, mashed potatoes, and corn on the cob, we would gather in the living room and sing from old hymnals. Uncle Danny played the guitar; Cousin Suzette missed keys on the old wooden piano and Aunt Beth over harmonized, singing loudly off pitch. We all noticed but we knew she was just excited about singing to the Lord.
This evening would be different. Aunt Beth’s recipe of fried chicken and mashed potatoes wouldn’t taste quite right. Dad would try and crack a corny joke to help make light of the situation. Even if his joke was funny it couldn't make any of us feel better. The sound of Aunt Beth’s voice would make us feel better, or the smell of her old lady Chanel number 5 perfume left on our clothes after a soothing hug from her. The way she snorted when she laughed or how she obviously cheated at monopoly would make me feel better.

“How great thou art, how great thou art” we sang in the salmon decorated living room. I sat next to Uncle James and put my hand in his wrinkled arthritic hands. At first he didn’t sing, he just looked at me and smiled. The family sounded different this time. We sounded like a well rehearsed choir, our voices were harmonized perfectly. Aunt Beth wouldn’t be the star of our show this time, or ever again.
